Catholic Churches in Fort Smith

Michael Manning was the first Irish Catholic to move to Fort Smith. He moved here from New Orleans in the 1840 to work on the construction of the fort. Soon, the little log church of Saint Patrick was built at the corner of 3rd Street and North “D” Streets. Today, residents can choose from Christ the King Catholic Church and St. Boniface Catholic Church.
